Hello!
Eu-freaking-reka! I did it, I once again had a problem and overcame it by working at it!
Just as I mentioned on my video that I have very bad luck when wishing something to somebody because they had some bad news come their way, I am also either a tech savvy or an extremely lucky man. Here's my problem today...
Somebody send me a video in a flash format and my wife wanted it to be recorded on a DVD, I could have done that if I use real player, the paid version, but I basically converted that flash file into a readable WM1 so it could be read by Windows media and then bob's your uncle I burned that sucker! It remains to be seen if it works on the DVD player, I cannot put it inside my DVD.
I have always been very tech savvy/lucky guy, I remember when we were trying to break into the British market with our speech recognition software, we sent our director of technical support back then to install the software with the appropriate hardware. On his last day he called the technical support team, I was the one working late that day, so I took the call and you could hear he was extremely nervous. He then silently told me that we needed to make this work and that if I would make it work I would be rewarded. So Einstein here started to work at it and saw a parameter that we had never played with. So to be on the safe side I call the support team of the hardware and asked them what it was, they told me that this was only use in certain cases in Europe where the telephony applications work differently. So with a chance of getting fired I change that parameter and guess what happened? The freaking voice-recognition worked properly, the following day I got in contact with our director and told him it was working fine, he asked me what I wanted from over there I told him a beer. I then went on to brief the R&D team and everyone else in technical support regarding this parameter. Am I a lucky guy or what? I think that this helped me avoid getting laid off 9 times and also this is part of the reason I'm still technically employed by the company. I'm sorry to burst the bubble to many people that thought I was a light, in reality I'm just a very lucky guy...
Have good day people!
