Hello!
Well well well, I had forgotten that next Monday is a legal holiday here in Canada, we are celebrating some Queen or other but here in Québec, and this I'm not sure, we are celebrating Patriots' Day. Now now, don't you Americans get your hopes high, this is a whole dispute that happened in the 1800s between the Québec's bourgeoisie and the Canadian bourgeoisie. We have changed the name to this day several times here in Quebec, we used to know it as Queen Victoria's day, then it became la Fête de Dollard and now it is known as Patriots’ Day (to honor the rebellion against the British in 1837). We'll probably change the name again some other time to fit our national mood... But what counts is that it's going to be a day off except in the Atlantic provinces where they probably celebrate some other day, such as the national lobster day. Oh come on!! Where's your sense of humor? You can make fun of me or of my ethnic group, see if I care! (It's not like I'm saying a Newfie joke).
Here in North America, besides those Mexican bandidos, we were populated by the British and the French. Obviously I am on the French side of things, we don't really care about the Queen or monarchy, and the rest of Canada apparently hates us because we are from the French side of town (Where the love is). Unlike Americans that kicked the monarchy a long time ago, English Canada still has some emotional things with the Queen... This is a crash course in North American history and Canada's holidays.
Anyways, have a great day people!
PS the whole thing came about because my bath guy called me to let me know that next Monday he won't be coming in since it's a legal holiday and now English Canada hates me! Americans should have invaded us a long time ago...oh wait! They did and we kicked their ass back below the 49th parallel...sorry Charlie...(Now they hate me too)
