Hello!
Have you guys finished your Christmas shopping yet?
My little brother came today and we were discussing the menu for Friday the 24th, we Salvadorans celebrate December 24 and really don't pay much attention to December 25th. I guess we saved that day for recuperating from the party the day before. It was here in Canada that we learned that a lot of people celebrate the 25 December seeing that they considered this to be the day that Jesus Christ was born, I'm not going to go into details but Jesus Christ was born in April but because we have moved around the calendar so much that his birth happens to fall in December.
That being said, we didn't discuss when JC was born but rather the menu for that festive day. Since all of the brothers are now married and have kids we have made it a rule that each family will bring something to the dinner that night. One family could bring the chicken or meat, the other one can make a salad and someone else can bring the pop. I was telling him that he was cheapskate because his wife wanted to bring this year rice and potatoes: she wanted to make a rice dish and a potato salad. I told him that I found that very redundant, that perhaps she could make the salad but bring something else instead of rice. But we both came to the conclusion that we have to get a move on for the menu, I think I will be putting the finger food and perhaps the desert, oh yeah and maybe the alcohol to. We are not heavy drinkers but my little brother and I like to have a bit of alcohol to spark up the evening, yeah today alcohol makes us go to sleep early and the dinner will be over by 1:00 a.m. or 1:30 AM tops! It's called old age a you youngsters will one day get there.
Ho ho ho to you and yours!
