It's better to burn out....

Hello!

Good to see you folks… hope all is well.

The title of this post? Well if you’re a lover of the movie “Highlander” you will surely remember the famous phrase said by the bad guy of the movie: “It’s better to burn out than to fade away.” And those words lead my reflection of today…

Folks, dealing with an elderly person (my mom) who is not physically “ill” but whose mental abilities are definitely leaving her body makes me wonder if I wouldn’t rather die in some sort of accident or some other fast dispatching way. I know, I know “not your freaking life, God decides when it’s time to..blah blah blah..” save your speech you pro-life party poopers… I now believe that once the head is gone, the person you knew and love so much is dead. I know it sounds rude but it is true.

I will instruct my current wife (cause you never know) and older kid that if I ever go looney tunes, they should try to dump me in a mental institution where my dreams of Bonaparte won’t hinder anyone. There is also the doctor assisted suicide option; it is being debated here in Canada. So I could probably get that too….I don’t know, I could write much about this subject but I rather keep it short as not to ruffle the feathers of some fanatic lumberjack who will do me a solid and dispatch me to the other side just because I want to have the right to decide my ending.

Any hoot…

Live long and party hard…

PS I also remember “It’s better to look good than to feel good..” or “We’ll always have Paris” or “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn” or “Woman, behold your son”… I’m a walking talking chatter box of memorabilia….
